Jackson, Miss. (June 6, 2023) – The Mississippi State Personnel Board (MSPB) is pleased to announce that 102 government employees from across the State recently graduated from the Mississippi Certified Public Manager® Program, the Administrative Services Certification Program, and the Executive Services Certification Program. Dr. J. Bret Becton, Dean and Professor of the College of Business and Economic Development at The University of Southern Mississippi, delivered the keynote address at the MCPM virtual graduation ceremony, and Brad White, executive director of Mississippi Department of Transportation, addressed the ASCP and ESCP graduates.
MSPB’s nationally accredited Certified Public Manager® Program combines classroom training and experiential learning to develop leadership and supervisory skills in managers of state agencies. Participants must complete six levels of course work, successfully complete real-world projects, and pass multiple written examinations to complete the certification process. Participants who complete the first three levels of the curriculum earn the Certificate in Supervisory Management.
The Administrative Services Certification Program and the Executive Services Certification Program utilize similar methodology to equip administrative support personnel with the skills needed to serve agencies and clients. Participants must complete three levels of course work, including projects and written examinations, to become certified in each program.
MSPB offers training programs tailored to state government entities to provide essential knowledge and leadership skills for successful public service. Graduates include executive directors and agency heads, a former statewide elected official, and top managers from agencies, boards, and commissions throughout the State and virtually every area of public service.
