First-level Graphic Design and Production professional position accountable for the preparation of design, layout, and art work in a department, center, institution, or agency of state government. This involves preparing drawings, illustrations, and type for covers, brochures, books, posters, forms, banners, slides, and reports; using techniques best suited to produce desired visual effects in conformance with printing methods specified; preparing maps of specified area; and operating photographic equipment to photograph illustrations, drawings, and printed materials.
Typically requires a Bachelor’s Degree.

Multimedia Specialist II
Second-level Graphic Design and Production professional position accountable for identifying, planning, and developing communications and informational material relevant to the needs and interest of agencies or the public. At this level, employees collaborate with internal clients to manage the design, production, and distribution of unique publications or marketing materials. This includes project management and coordination of diverse resources including agencies, external stakeholders (vendors), etc., and editing of final content to ensure alignment with goals and expectations of internal clients. Employees at this level typically have specialized technical expertise with sophisticated production equipment or software design programs.
Typically requires a Bachelor’s Degree and 1-3 years of experience.

Multimedia Specialist III
Seasoned Graphic Design and Production professional position accountable for design and production of multiple and complex documents and information with management of graphics design projects and teams. At this level, employees are accountable for efficient operations, independent project work, and completing assignments within set guidelines (e.g. quality, time, etc.). Employees accomplish this through scheduling and coordination efforts. May collaborate with internal clients to manage the design, production, and distribution of unique publications, or marketing materials and provide advice concerning communication and production capabilities in response to needs. Employees provide software recommendations, editing, proofreading, and final review. May include other digital design, website design and maintenance, HTML and CSS knowledge, and collaboration with technology staff for app development. Employees at this level typically use specialized technical expertise to work independently with sophisticated production equipment or software design programs for complex projects.

Multimedia Specialist Team Lead
First-level Graphic Design and Production supervisory position that may also participate in communications and production related work in their area. At this level, employees are accountable for efficient operations and for staff completing assignments within set guidelines (e.g. quality, time, etc.). Employees accomplish this through scheduling and coordination efforts. May also provide advice to internal clients concerning communication and production capabilities in response to needs. Employee supervision at this level includes hire recommendations; training; work planning, assignments, and review; and performance assessment, coaching, and progressive discipline. Supervision at this level also requires these employees to have the knowledge and skills to perform and review the work overseen.
Typically requires a Bachelor’s Degree and 4-6 years of experience.
