Jobs and Descriptions
Food Service Worker I
First-level Food Services position accountable for preparation of simple menu items under direct supervision. Follows standard kitchen procedures and sanitation guidelines. Under direction prepares food trays with proper amounts of food for individuals with specific dietary needs. Serves in food lines, washes dishes and kitchen tools, cleans equipment, and stocks food in serving lines.
Typically requires a High School Diploma or high school equivalency and 0-1 year of work experience. May require SafeServe Certification.

Food Service Worker II
Second-level Food Services position accountable for preparation and cooking of more complex menu items under general supervision. Follows standard kitchen procedures and sanitation guidelines. Prepares food trays with proper amounts of food for individuals with specific dietary needs. Participates in and may also assist in supervising the cleaning of the kitchen and food serving areas. Serves in food lines, stocks foods, and requisitions basic food and supply items.
Typically requires a High School Diploma or high school equivalency and 1-2 years of work experience. May require SafeServe Certification.

Food Service Team Lead
First-level Food Services Supervisor accountable for overseeing the preparation and serving of food. Coordinates and audits meals in accordance with basic dietetic principles. Conducts and maintains inventories, completes requisitions for food and supply items, and maintains food service records. Supervises the training and daily work of food service staff or offenders engaged in related duties. Monitors safety and sanitation standards in kitchens, dining rooms, and food preparation and storage areas.
Typically requires an Associate’s Degree or 4 years of food service experience. May require SafeServe Certification.

Food Service Supervisor
Second-level Food Services Supervisor/Manager accountable for overseeing the preparation and serving of food. Plans and coordinates basic meals in accordance with dietetic principles. Conducts and maintains inventories, completes requisitions for food and supply items, and maintains financial records and budget information for food service costs. Monitors safety and sanitation standards in kitchens, dining rooms, and food preparation and storage areas. Supervises the training and daily work of a food service staff or offenders engaged in related duties. Employee supervision includes hire recommendations; training; work planning, assignments, and review; and performance assessment, coaching, and progressive discipline.
Typically requires an Associate’s Degree and 2 years of supervisory experience. May require SafeServe Certification.
