Vocational position responsible for organizing, maintaining, and circulating all types of library materials in the professional collections and files of a state agency or state-owned library facility. Distributes and receives library materials and assists librarians, administrative personnel, and customers in locating materials and information. Assists in the preparation of statistical and other reports and materials for meetings and workshops.
Typically requires a High School Diploma or high school equivalency and 0-2 years of experience.

Librarian I
First-level professional position accountable for developing a plan to provide library services to a state agency, facility, or institution, including those unable to come to the general library. Accountable for directing the operations and activities of the facility library program, including selecting or assisting in the selection and evaluation of library materials and equipment.
Typically requires a Bachelor’s Degree.

Librarian II
Second-level professional position accountable for planning, coordinating with public library systems in specific areas of the state or in specialized services throughout the state. Duties are performed in accordance with professional library practices, techniques, and in conformance with governmental directives. Work involves providing information to internal and external contacts; coordinating activities; and providing assistance to staff and the public. Employees at this level utilize professional knowledge and judgment in solving complex problems.
Typically requires a Bachelor’s Degree and 1-2 years of experience.

Librarian III
Seasoned Library professional position accountable for planning and directing the library services and all related operations of the library program (including the talking book program), including evaluating, selecting, and ordering library materials and equipment. Jobs at this level provide consultative services to administrators, staff, library board of trustees, and state, city, and county officials. Serves as a team lead or mentor for lower-level library positions.
Typically requires a Master’s Degree and 0-2 years of experience.

Librarian Team Lead
Supervisory-level Library position responsible for managing a library in a state facility or institution. At this level, positions are responsible for coordination of multiple resources, scheduling and prioritization of work, evaluation and presentation of complex reports, and supervision of employees. Employee supervision includes hire recommendations; training; work planning, assignments, and review; and performance assessment, coaching, and progressive discipline. Supervision at this level also requires these employees to have the knowledge and skills to perform and review the work overseen.
Typically requires a Master’s Degree and 3 years of experience.
