Security Officer I

This is entry-level security work accountable for protecting public property and equipment against loss or damage from theft, fire, vandalism, or other causes, and maintaining order in a state facility. Works under direct supervision and follows detailed procedures and practices.  Work is typically routine and scheduled.

Typically requires a High School diploma and 0-1 years of relevant experience.

Security Officer II

This is second-level security work for patrolling and protecting public property and equipment against loss or damage from theft, fire, vandalism, or other causes, and maintaining order in a state facility. Investigates reports of disturbances and suspicious circumstances and maintains records and makes reports as required. Employees at this level apply knowledge and experience to analyze situations and provide appropriate responses.

Typically requires a High School diploma and 1-3 years of relevant experience.

Security Officer III

This is advanced level security work for patrolling and protecting public property and equipment against loss or damage from theft, fire, vandalism, or other causes, and maintaining order in a state facility. Employees at this level function as a lead worker and/or shift supervisor, use knowledge to make decisions, and mentor lower level employees.

Typically requires a High School diploma and 2-4 years of relevant experience.

Security Officer Team Lead

This is a supervisory position accountable for overseeing a security program assigned responsibility for protecting public property and equipment through managing and directing a group of security officers. Incumbents have knowledge of supervisory practices, develops security policies and procedures, oversee and maintain security technologies, make recommendations for hiring, and train new employees.

Typically requires a High School diploma and 5+ years of relevant experience.

Security Officer Supervisor

This is a managerial security position accountable for supervisory and administrative work directing the operations of a multifaceted security program for a state facility or office building complex. Directs total security operations in a state facility or office building complex with significant scope and substantial security needs. Accountable for training, supervising, and evaluating security staff; developing and directing continuous in-service training programs. Reviews and evaluates staff reports; provides advice and assistance to improve effectiveness and clarity of reports.

Typically requires a High School diploma and 6+ years of relevant experience.
