First-level professional position accountable for performing basic management duties relating to the overall operation and maintenance of a state park or facility which includes visitor services, budgeting and procurement for minor projects, preservation, research, interpretation, and other management tasks. May be accountable for participating in planning and directing natural or cultural history interpretation, resource management, and research in an assigned state park. May also assist with planning, coordinating, and implementing programs related to state parks; assists with developing and administering long-range plans, short- term projects, and special events.

May also assist in planning and directing the overall operation and maintenance of a state park or facility offering a variety of services which may include campgrounds, lodging, marinas, stores, trails, or special ecological management areas.

Seasoned professional position accountable for administering programs related to state parks and planning and directing natural or cultural interpretation, resource management, stewardship and research in an assigned area. May be accountable for planning and directing the overall operation and maintenance of a state park or facility offering a variety of services which may include campgrounds, lodging, marinas, stores, trails, or special ecological management areas. Functions as a lead worker and may train lower-level positions.

Park/Historic Site Team Lead
Supervisory position accountable for managing a small state park or assisting in the administration of an assigned natural or cultural resource program or service, and assisting in directing the development and implementation of departmental planning issues. May also coordinate the development and review of specialized plans for multiple state parks, statewide resource management programs, and scientific research. Employee supervision includes hire recommendations; training; work planning, assignments, and review; and performance assessment, coaching, and progressive discipline. Supervision at this level also requires these employees to have the knowledge and skills to perform and review the work overseen.

Park/Historic Site Supervisor
Manager accountable for managing a large state park, multiple small parks, or large program and supervising permanent, seasonal, temporary and volunteer employees in the protection, maintenance, operation and repair of state parks, natural and cultural resources, facilities, equipment and systems. Directs the general management of policy development, program planning, and coordination, and the evaluation of policy or organizational changes and new programs. Employee supervision includes hire recommendations; training; work planning, assignments, and review; and performance assessment, coaching, and progressive discipline. Supervision at this level also requires these employees to have the knowledge and skills to perform and review the work overseen.
