Compliance Inspector I

This is an entry-level position accountable for scheduling and conducting initial, annual, random, renewal, and follow-up inspections of assigned businesses or professions to assure conformity with applicable state laws or rules and regulations. Employees in this class are responsible for verifying licensure of professionals and businesses and inspecting and reviewing business documentation as it relates to legal requirements.

Typically requires a High school equivalency and 0-2 years of experience.

Compliance Inspector II

This is the journey level work accountable for scheduling and conducting initial, annual, random, renewal, and follow-up inspections of assigned businesses or professions to assure conformity with applicable state laws or rules and regulations. At this level, employees will verify licensure of professionals and businesses and inspect and review business documentation as it relates to licensure requirements. Work includes serving as a lead worker and mentor to first-level vocational positions.

Typically requires High school equivalency and 1-3 years of experience.

Compliance Inspector Team Lead

Supervisory position responsible for overseeing the work of vocational-level positions in inspecting and investigating compliance with business or professional licensure and regulation requirements. Employee supervision includes hire recommendations, training, planning and assigning work, performance assessment, coaching, and progressive discipline. Supervision at this level also requires these employees to have the knowledge and skills to perform the work overseen.

Typically requires a High school equivalency and 4 or more years of experience.

Compliance Inspector I (Degree)

This is a professional position accountable for inspecting industries under the purview of the appointing agency. Employees enforce relevant laws and regulations that protect public health and safety of citizens; Ensure that regulated establishments produce a safe product by executing appropriate inspection methods, determining noncompliance with regulatory requirements, documenting noncompliance and initiating enforcement action, where warranted; and review records, observe operations, and conduct hands-on verification to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and prepare detailed documentation of non-compliance with regulatory requirements.  May supervise lower level inspection staff.

Typically requires a Bachelor’s Degree and 0-2 years of experience.

Compliance Inspector II (Degree)

This is a professional position accountable for inspecting industries under the purview of the appointing agency. Employees enforce relevant laws and regulations that protect public health and safety of citizens; Ensure that regulated establishments produce a safe product by executing appropriate inspection methods, determining noncompliance with regulatory requirements, documenting noncompliance and initiating enforcement action, where warranted; and review records, observe operations, and conduct hands-on verification to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and prepare detailed documentation of non-compliance with regulatory requirements.  May supervise lower level inspection staff.

Typically requires a Bachelor’s Degree and 2-4 years of experience.

Compliance Inspector Team Lead (Degree)

This is a professional position accountable for inspecting industries under the purview of the appointing agency. Employees enforce relevant laws and regulations that protect public health and safety of citizens; Ensure that regulated establishments produce a safe product by executing appropriate inspection methods, determining noncompliance with regulatory requirements, documenting noncompliance and initiating enforcement action, where warranted; and review records, observe operations, and conduct hands-on verification to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and prepare detailed documentation of non-compliance with regulatory requirements. Work differs from the lower level professional classifications in that employees may lead a team of inspectors and/or supervise lower level inspection staff.

Typically requires a Bachelor’s Degree and 5-7 years of experience.

Compliance Inspector Supervisor

This is a first-level inspection & compliance supervisor position accountable for overseeing the activities of a group of professional and vocational employees assigned to an area/district and who are involved in the daily compliance inspection and enforcement activities. Employee supervision includes hire recommendations, training, planning and assigning work, performance assessment, coaching, and progressive discipline. Supervision at this level also requires these employees to have the knowledge and skills to perform the work overseen.

Typically requires a Bachelor’s degree and 6-8 years of relevant experience.
