Insurance Consumer Services Manager
Supervisory position responsible for professional administrative, highly specialized, investigative work in which the incumbent serves as supervisor of a branch within the Consumer Services Division of the Mississippi Insurance Department. This is advanced work examining, evaluating, and investigating consumer complaints and insurance policies in the insurance industry. Employees in this class investigate, counsel, advise and evaluate contractual provisions of individuals and groups concerning complaints, purchase and evaluation of property, casualty, life, health, and disability insurance availability, employer responsibilities (COBRA), etc, coverage, policies, plans, and rating procedures regarding insurance companies and insurance agents. Employees also train lower-level consumer services personnel.
Typically requires High school equivalency and 4 or more years of experience.

Insurance Licensing Manager
Work involves formulating, directing, and controlling the operations of the Bureau through divisions and branches staffed with highly specialized professional and technical personnel. The incumbent aids in the establishment of objectives, standards, and control measures for programs which are moderate in scope, major in impact and which could affect the fiscal integrity of the State general fund and various special funds. Internal and external contacts are made to provide and exchange information and coordinate activities with other local, state, and federal agencies, other state governments as well as provide assistance to the general public. The work may also involve analyzing insurance claim reports and comparing facts as they relate to insurance contracts, contacting insurance companies to obtain clarification and settlement of allowable claims, and providing information of a semi-routine nature concerning insurance.
Typically requires Bachelor’s degree and 6-8 years of relevant experience.

Insurance Financial Market and Regulation Manager
Highly specialized, professional, administrative, and investigative work requiring extensive knowledge of federal and state insurance laws and regulations as well as pending regulatory policies and proposals. Performs as liaison and represents the insurance commissioner with other legislative, regulatory, and executive divisions and departments of state and federal government. Functional responsibility of managing which includes complete operational supervision of the consumer services division of the department of insurance with considerable latitude for exercise of independent initiative and judgment. Employees may also be responsible for regulating the activities of insurance companies by requiring compliance with insurance and related laws set forth in Mississippi Statutes and Departmental rules and regulations.
Typically requires Bachelor’s degree and 8-10 years of relevant experience.
