Investment Professional I

First-level professional Investment technical work in the management of portfolios. The work involves researching, analyzing, and evaluating the investment merits of different types of investment projects and programs, monitoring financial markets, and assisting in the formulation of investment recommendations and implementing approved portfolio strategy.

Typically requires a Master’s Degree and 0-2 years of experience.

Investment Professional II

Seasoned professional Investment technical work in the management of portfolios. The work involves researching, analyzing, and evaluating the investment merits of different types of investment projects and programs, monitoring financial markets, and assisting in the formulation of investment recommendations and implementing approved portfolio strategy. Employees at this level are recognized as experts in their field and mentor or direct the work of lower-level staff.

Typically requires a Master’s Degree and 3+ years of experience. May require a Chartered Financial Analyst designation.

Investment Team Lead

Supervisory Investment position accountable for professional and supervisory technical financial work involving the activities of the state’s investments to ensure the prudent management of the investment assets. Jobs at this level administer investment related programs and procedures in accordance with state and federal laws governing state investment plans. Employee supervision includes hire recommendations; training; work planning, assignments, and review; and performance assessment, coaching, and progressive discipline. Supervision at this level also requires these positions to have the knowledge and skills to perform and review the work overseen.

Typically requires a Master’s Degree and 7+ years of experience. May require a Chartered Financial Analyst designation.

Investment Supervisor

Managerial Investment position accountable for highly responsible administrative and technical financial work involving planning and directing the activities of the Investment Division of a state investment system to ensure the prudent management of the investment assets. Jobs at this level initiate investment related programs and procedures in accordance with state and federal laws governing the Public Employees Retirement System of the Office of the State Treasurer. Employees are also accountable for analyzing various investments to determine their suitability for the investment program, supervising the maintenance of investment records, analyzing and resolving investment problems, and interpreting and implementing federal, state, and agency policies and procedures related to the investment of state investment plan assets.

Typically requires a Master’s Degree, 8+ years of related experience, and 1-2 years of supervisory experience. May require a Chartered Financial Analyst designation.
