Information Technology Architecture

Roles in this job family are accountable for the establishment, development, and communication of IT policies and standards for all components of IT and for the monitoring of use of technology for consistency with the architectural framework and standards. This is done to ensure technology supports business processes to optimize service delivery to constituents.

Enterprise Architect I

Technical architect responsible for the design and implementation of architecture. Evaluates the applicability of technologies and provides input as a team member to influence future IT strategy. Develops less complex plans that require the integration of multiple technologies and IT functional areas. Recommends technical standards across multiple IT functions that may be at an agency or enterprise level. Provides input to decisions that impact a wide range of multi-platform integrated IT systems. Prepares and makes presentations on current and emerging technologies to stakeholders and business partners. May be utilized as an expert resource on statewide enterprise-wide projects.

Typically requires a Bachelor’s Degree and 4-8 years of multi-functional IT experience.

Enterprise Architect II

Solutions Architect evaluates the applicability of technologies and provides input as a team member to influence future IT strategy. Develops moderately complex plans that require the integration of multiple technologies and IT functional areas. Recommends technical standards across multiple IT functions that may be at an agency or enterprise level. Provides input to decisions that impact a wide range of multi-platform integrated IT systems. Prepares and makes presentations on current and emerging technologies to stakeholders and business partners. May be utilized as an expert resource on statewide enterprise wide projects.

Typically requires a Bachelor’s Degree and 8-12+ years of multi-functional IT experience.

Enterprise Architect III

Business Processes and Solutions Architect evaluates the applicability of leading edge technologies and provides input on a strategic level to influence future IT strategy. Develops complex and high level plans that require the integration of multiple technologies and IT functional areas. Recommends technical standards across multiple disciplines. Due to level of seasoned expertise, makes decisions that impact a wide range of multi-platform integrated IT systems. Prepares and makes presentations on current and emerging technologies to stakeholders and business partners at high levels. Primarily operates at the statewide enterprise level in terms of work and decisions. Is utilized as an expert resource on statewide enterprise projects.

Typically requires a Bachelor’s Degree and 12-15+ years of multi-functional IT experience.
